Surpassing your Upper Limits

Do you ever feel like you're on the cusp of reaching a new level of success, happiness, or fulfillment, only to find yourself self-sabotaging or hitting a roadblock? You might be encountering your upper limits – those self-imposed barriers that keep us from fully embracing our potential and stepping into our zone of genius.

The concept of upper limits is from the powerful and inspiring book, “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks. This book has been a game-changer for me, profoundly shifting my perspective on personal growth.

The book explores the concept of self-imposed limits and offers a roadmap to overcome them, allowing readers to step into their zone of genius and create a life of abundance and fulfillment. With profound insights and practical strategies, it empowers you to break free from their comfort zones and unleash their untapped potential.

The book shed light on why I've been holding myself back, how to overcome this and I’m excited to share with you…

As we grow and transform, it’s essential to be aware of our upper limits. These are often unconscious blocks that hold us back from reaching our full potential and experiencing the success and fulfilment we desire. It’s important to understand these limits because it allows us to break free of the constraints and create what we actually desire.

“When you’re “Upper-Limiting” you’re doing something that is crumpling your flow of positive energy.”

Here are some common signs that indicate we may be hitting our upper limits:

WORRY: While it can be useful when we have control over it and use it to take positive action, most worry isn’t useful and is just upper limit noise, designed to keep us in our comfort zone.

CRITICISM & BLAME: Whether directed at yourself or others, these can be an addictive way of sabotaging the flow of positive energy. Negative self-talk and beating yourself up is a big one!

DEFLECTING: avoiding the flow of energy altogether, like dodging complements or creating excuses.

SQUABBLING: Getting caught up in unnecessary conflicts can distract us from focusing on our goals and drain our energy, preventing us from making progress.

SICKNESS, HURT, ACCIDENTS: Not all are upper limit problems, however it is examine if these are a manifestation of subsubconscious resistance to success or a fear of taking on greater responsibilities.

INTEGRITY BREACH: this stops the flow of energy, creating a lack of completeness that slows us down. This could be not keeping our word, people pleasing or not expressing our truth.

SELF-SABOTAGE: Engaging in behaviours that undermine our progress, such as procrastination, self-doubt, or making excuses.

PLAYING SMALL: settling for less than you know is possible, choosing the comfortable and familiar instead of taking risks and stepping into your full potential.

COMPARISION: comparing yourself to others and feeling envious or judgemental, can keep us in a stuck state of doubt and lack.

SEEKING APPROVAL: relying heavily on external validation and approval to feel worthy and secure, rather than trusting our own inner guidance.

” The art of getting beyond our Upper Limit Problem has a lot to do with creating space within us to feel and appreciate natural good feeling.

By extending your ability to feel positive feelings, you expand your tolerance for things going well in your life.”

It can be challenging when upper limits arise on our journey, however, the first step is awareness. By becoming aware of the signs and behaviours associated with us hitting our upper limits, we can start to work through them and step into more of what we wish to create.

It takes courage and strength, however the rewards are immeasurable. As we release the grip of our upper limits, we open ourselves up to new possibilities, expanded success, and deeper fulfillment.
